Boost Your Podcast w/ Spotify’s New Features

Spotify announced new features to help listeners find, follow, and fall in love with the latest podcasts, audio, and video. Here’s what those features are, how they change the game, and ways you can maximize them.
Landing on Home Pages
Getting discovered is, of course, one of the main struggles. Spotify is going to help with some promo.
Podcast and video podcast recommendations are appearing on the Home page just below shortcuts.
Using its algorithm, Spotify will place shows in front of users who are expected to enjoy that content based on their listening habits.
- Why it’s a win: Think of it as free, highly targeted advertising. This feature puts your podcast in the direct line of sight of potential new fans, increasing your chances of being discovered by the right audience without you having to do anything extra.
- How to maximize: If you host a true-crime podcast, Spotify’s algorithm can identify a user who binges similar shows and place your podcast on their Home screen with a note like, “Because you love Crime Junkie.”
This suggests to me that wording in your title, podcast description, and episode description is going to be even more important.

Making Sure Followers Don’t Miss Put
You’ve worked hard to earn your followers, but how do you make sure they see your new episodes? Spotify has the solution.
A new, dedicated “Following” feed collects all the latest episodes from the shows a user follows. When you publish, your episode will pop up in this feed for every one of your followers.
- Why it’s a win: This feature significantly boosts the visibility of your new releases for your existing fans. That could help keep listeners consistent, and it should be a major help for podcasters who don’t post on a regular schedule. If, you don’t post for a while, when you come back, you’ll still get in front of your followers.
- How to maximize: Call your listeners’ attention to the “Following” feed. Since it’s new, they may not notice it. And continue to remind them how easy it is to find your newest episodes there.
Expanding Engagement with “In This Episode”
This new feature is a creative goldmine. You’ll be able to add a section called “In this episode” to link directly to other content on Spotify—songs, artists, audiobooks, playlists, and even other podcasts.
- Why it’s a win: There are so many possibilities. You can cross-promote your own work if and you create a new revenue stream offering sponsored link to others’ content. (like a music playlist you curated), shout out a guest’s podcast to foster collaboration, or even link to an audiobook you discussed. It makes your show page a central hub for your topic.
- How to maximize: Say you host a business podcast, you could interview a successful author and charge them to link to their audiobook. Or, if your podcast focuses on music, you could charge artists to link to their songs.

Offering Listeners Better Comments
Spotify is giving you the ability to elevate your comments section with two key features: threaded replies and emoji reactions.
Now, you can respond directly to a specific listener’s comment, creating a clear, organized conversation.

- Why it’s a win: This transforms your comments from a random message board into a genuine community forum. You can answer specific questions, acknowledge feedback, and make your listeners feel seen and valued.
- How to maximize: You can use it build engagement. For example, announce you’re doing a Q&A episode and ask listeners to post questions in the comments. Or, drive your listeners to your other platforms by encouraging them to drop questions and comments. Find a topic that gains a lot of traction and announce you’ll be addressing it on Discord, Spaces, Substack, etc.
If you can think of ways Spotify podcasters can use these tools, drop’em in the comments.
