Have you ever heard that you’re more likely to get hired on Friday the 13th than any other Friday of the year?
No? Me either.
But maybe it’s true and we just don’t know it. Here’s a list of creative and freelance jobs to test it out.
PT TV Writers
Romper needs writers who are TV addicts and can write 3 to 5 articles within an 8-hour shift. You must commit to at least 3 days per week, and one of those days must be Monday, Thursday, or Friday from 9 to 5.
You need at least 1 year TV/entertainment writing experience and 2 years overall experience reporting and writing.
PT TV/Film Writer
Elite Daily needs writers with “a fun and witty voice” who can contribute 3 or 4 days a week. You must be available Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 11 am to 6 pm (EST), and be able to writer three to four article each shift.
You should have at least 2 years of reporting, writing or blogging experience.
PT Lifestyle Writers
Elite Daily needs writers who can regularly produce content on topics related to being 20-something, holiday content, friendship, pop-culture, social media, staying on top of millennial trends. You need to commit to 3 days working 7-hour shifts during business hours. You also need to pitch 5 to 10 stories a day and produce at least three in a shift.
A degree in English or journalism is required, and you need at least 2 years of writing experience.
PT Beauty Writers
The Zoe Report is looking for writers to pitch and writer beauty features and market content 3 to 4 days a week.
You need at least 2 years of beauty writing experience.
Gaming Reporter
Digital Trends needs a reporter for the gaming section that can write interview, op-ed, and feature pieces. You’ll also have find images, video and other media and record screen shots and video clips.
WordPress experience is a plus.
Freelance Reporter
The Real Deal is looking for a freelancer who can commit 80 hours a month to reporting breaking news and aggregating content relevant to the real estate industry. The work will primarily be focused on the Los Angeles market but will also include Miami, New York, and Chicago.
You need 1 to 3 years of journalism experience.
Photography Writer (New York)
Unicef’s Digital Strategy Section is looking for a writer to produce copy for photo essays and captions for other photography. The job involves working 5 days a week onsite in New York for 11.5 months. The job requires light research and you’ll have to format content to specific criteria.
You need a master’s degree and 4 years of relevant experience. You need proficiency in Photo Mechanic and Drupal. Travel may be required.
Beauty Editor (New York)
Yahoo Lifestyle is seeking a full-time contract editor based in New York. This role involves assigning stories, conceiving and invigorating content, and contributing to social media accounts.
You need a bachelor’s degree and 5 years of digital media in the beauty space. You also need experience with WordPress, SEO and social media platforms.
Freelance Digital Editor
Investopedia needs someone with financial acumen to update and improve their content. That will include rewriting, merging content, performing SEO edits, and lengthening articles with original content.
You need experience as a digital editor, SEO knowledge and the ability to use Excel and a CMS.
PT Editor (Miami)
Curbed Miami needs someone who is passionate about Miami to run the daily editorial operations part-time. You’ll need to write and edit according to the style guide and you need the ability to tackle breaking news.
Email Contractor
Dotdash needs someone to build and deploy daily and weekly email campaigns for their newsletter subscribers.
You need 1 to 3 years of experience developing and curating content for the web, email and social media and experience writing for email newsletters.
Digital Video Producers (New York)
SurvivorNet is looking for individual to create short-form documentaries. You must be able to write the script, edit and work in the field. You’ll also have to research and compile pre-interview packets.
You need a background in video production, the ability to handle multiple projects under deadlines, and you must dedicate 6 to 8 months to the position.
FT Freelance Layout and Production Artist (Chicago)
Paper Source is looking for someone to support the marketing team in all aspects of layout, production and design. The job requires strong typesetting, typography and image management skills.
You need at least 2 years of experience as a junior designer, Adobe software skills and you must able to work from the company’s Chicago headquarters.
On-Air Talent
Meal Mentor is looking for someone for their weekly video series, which includes an interview series and a health show.
You need 1 year experience conducting live interviews and producing videos, a space with the sound quality and lighting for recording, access to Skype, and familiarity with Facebook Live, YouTube Live or other streaming. Pay is about $400 – $500 a week.
Content Director
National Hog Farmer is looking for a home-based editor with a passion for agriculture and swine to cover industry events, manage freelance submissions, create content for daily newsletters and plan print editions.
You need a bachelor’s degree and 5 to 7 years of writing and editorial experience. You also must be proficient in MS Office, Outlook, and photography.
