French national Olivier Dubois was kidnapped in Gao, an area of Mali that’s reportedly dangerous for journalists.

Freelance journalist Olivier Dubois was kidnapped in Mali and last seen on video saying he was being held by Jamaa Nusrat al-Islam wal-Muslimin, or JNIM, an Islamic militant group.

June 8 marked the two-month point since Dubois was captured. And JNIM has a reputation for violence and murder.
