Awesome Grant

The Awesome Foundation is a global community composed of chapters that provide $1000 no-strings-attached grants to support projects that they define as awesome.

Grants are usually issued monthly.

Details

Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting

Up to five creative grants per year are offered to journalists around the world who “push the envelope in data collection and analysis and make use of advanced data mining techniques.”

This funding is for data-driven storytelling, based on original data collection and analysis. Work should have strong visuals and the potential to shape public discourse and hold the powerful accountable.

Grants are generally between $10,000 and $20,000.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Details

PEN/Jean Stein Grant

Each year two PEN/Jean Stein Grants for Literary Oral History are awarded to creatives to support the completion of a nonfiction project featuring a significant amount of oral history.

The project outlined in your application must be unpublished.

Grants are $15,000 each.

The application period for the 2022 awards closes June 1, 2021. Details

PEN/ Heim Translation Grants

These creative grants are to help fund the translation of international works into English.

Preference is given to translators early in their career and content by underrepresented writers in underrepresented languages.

Grants generally range $2,000 – $4,000.

Syracuse University

The Alexia professional grants provide $20,000 in funding to photographers and visual journalists for work that promotes world peace and understanding.

The application period runs from mid-September to early October. Details

Speculative Literature Foundation

This $1,000 grant is offered annually to help a writer age 50 or older start on their professional writing journey.

The Older Writers Grant is intended for those working on speculative fiction.

The deadline for 2021 applications is May 31. Details

Nav

Nav, a small business finance solutions company, is offering two small business grants—one for $10,000 and one for $5,000.

To be eligible you must be a customer or sign up for a free account, and you’ll have to create a social media post about the grant program. You’ll also get a voting link you’ll need to use to get your application boosted up among the 200 finalists.

Applications close May 31, 2021.  Details

ASLE

You could get a grant of up to $1,000 for translating books or substantial content on ecocriticism into English.

Works can be fiction or non-fiction but must have a clear relationship to environmental issues.

The application closing date for 2021 is June 1. Details

Interchange Artist Grant

Focused on the Midwest, these creative grants provide $20,000 in direct support, professional development retreats, and mentoring for 16 people with “an active socially-engaged practice.”

These grants are intended for new or existing projects that make a change in communities.

To qualify, you must be in the Mid-America Arts Alliance region, which includes Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Texas.

You must also be able to attend a virtual retreat in October 2021 and a live retreat in Kansas City, MO in July 2022.

Applications close July 5, 2021. Details

New York Foundation for the Arts

The Barbara and Carl Zydney Grant for Artists with Disabilities provides $1,000 in unrestricted cash to visual, media, music, performing, and literary artists who live in New York City.

You must be actively creating and must identify as having a disability. Details

Lampblack

Every week in 2021, Lampblack is giving up to $100 to a black poet, storyteller, or essayist in need.

Selections are made randomly on Wednesdays. Details
